"Pay close attention and you might solve this.
On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention.
Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule.
Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess.
Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing.
Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher.
And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High's notorious gossip app.
Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom. Before the end of detention Simon's dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn't an accident. On Monday, he died. But on Tuesday, he'd planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who's still on the loose?
Everyone has secrets, right? What really matters is how far you would go to protect them. "
Opinion:
First of all, I wanted to say I've wanted to read this book series since I've heard of it. Also, the cover totally caught my attention. It mirrors the content pretty well in my opinion.
Now I want to talk a little bit about the content itself. As I've said before, I've been waiting to read this book for a while now. Therefore, my expectations were really high. In this case McManus totally fullfilled my expectations. I loved the setting, which is in a high school. This plus the thrilling aspect of a murder during detention was very nice in my opinion. The author kept a great balance between teen-drama and the murder mystery. For me it was great to follow the lives of every suspects till at the very end the mystery gets solved. This book is really goot for people who like to take part in the riddleing.
I think the author did a gread job on character building, especially concerning the main protagonists, who are murder suspects. Every one of the has their flaws and is far from perfect. This creates a special authenticity, which I personally really loved.
The writing style is pretty nice. I enjoyed reading the whole book and ended up reading it in one short sitting. For me it was a real pageturner!
Conclusion:
All in all, this book is a great mixture of drama and murder mystery and I would really recommend it to all thriller, murder mystery and drama fans!
