Actually, I like the idea of a female protagonist who solves almost everything she has to face by only being smart with her skills as a chemist. That sounded very intriguing and turned out very haunting and clever.
This book is different from all the others the author wrote. Her writing-style is still soft and decent, but there is some plain tone, the words she uses work for her scenes perfectly.
I really enjoyed The Chemist. Yes, this book is different from Stephenie Meyers other books, but in my opinion in a good way.

Ein überaus bemerkenswerter Thriller, der seine absoluten Schockmomente hat. Hochspannung und Lesevergnügen sind hier vorprogrammiert. Wer allerdings so seine Probleme mit sexueller Gewalt und Kindesmissbrauch hat, der sollte dieses Buch eher meiden. Ansonsten kann ich es nur empfehlen.

Ein Roman, der voller Überraschungen und Dramatik steckt und dabei immer auf angenehme Weise unterhält. Zwei grandiose Charaktere tun ein Übriges, dieses Buch zu einem absoluten Lesevergnügen zu machen. Lesen!

Nach ihrer Royals Saga hätte ich nie gedacht, dass die Autorin sich auf perfekt darauf versteht, so einen Roman zu schreiben. Ausnahmsweise geht es einmal nicht um heiße Erotik und dominante Männer.

Die Charaktere hier haben auch ihre Sorgen und Probleme, ihre dunklen Seiten, mit denen sie klar kommen müssen, keine Frage. Aber da wird auch deutlich, dass eine Sucht unterschiedliche Seiten haben kann. Nicht jede Sucht ist gesundheitsschädigend und nicht jede Sucht muss aufgrund von Drogen oder Alkohol entstanden sein.

Diesen Roman kann ich nur wärmstens empfehlen!

An invisible narrator tells the story of Katerina, Alexander, Jacob, Hephaestion and some other figures. The life at the palace is dangerouse and every day is a struggle to survive in this bloody world.

Eleanor Herman´s writing style is simple. A lot of blood is flowing, many dreams get destroyed and her way of describing the war scenes is very graphic. Her tone is soft even in the cruelest and bloodiest scenes and she has a very opulent way to bring a lot of characters into the story. But after reading this book I guess the author wanted too much too soon. The plot is great, but the way how this book is written stays very facile. Everything is handled in a fast way.

No question the author knows how to show her main figures and what they mean to the story. But despite that, she doesn´t give them a great depth. They are easily exchangeable and that is a bit sad. So it is a huge round dance of different figures that all have more or less to do with the ongoing story or what will come in the next book.

I had my fun reading it, yes, and I – to some point – enjoyed this book. But I missed the special something and saw a bit too less of the main figure Kat. My rating is due to my fun and the great way the author was describing the battles.
