The new face of our time

In contemporary art, photography in particular, the portrait is still among the most important and repeatedly reinvented pictorial contents. Aesthetic approaches range from documentary to the staging of the icono­graphic traditions right up to the artistic preoccupation with aspects of amateur photography or abstraction as possible reflections of the theme. With this joint exhi­b­ition project, the Kunstmuseum Bonn and Die Photo­graphische Sammlung/SK Stiftung Kultur in Cologne examine this complexity and topicality.
