Mit anderen Augen. Das Porträt in der zeitgenössischen Fotografie
Kat. Die Photographische Sammlung/SK Stiftung Kultur, Köln, Kunstmuseum Bonn
Stephan Berg (Herausgeber)
The new face of our time
In contemporary art, photography in particular, the portrait is still among the most important and repeatedly reinvented pictorial contents. Aesthetic approaches range from documentary to the staging of the iconographic traditions right up to the artistic preoccupation with aspects of amateur photography or abstraction as possible reflections of the theme. With this joint exhibition project, the Kunstmuseum Bonn and Die Photographische Sammlung/SK Stiftung Kultur in Cologne examine this complexity and topicality. And therefore, it is fair to say: If fifteen years ago, a book such as »How you look at it« drew the final line under the question on how closely related in terms of form visual arts and photography were, thus contributing to a positive revaluation of photography, then today, it is »With different eyes« that delivers a comprehensive inventory and definitive confirmation of the – in the meantime no longer deniable – dominance of photography within the artistic genre of portraiture!Künstler: The Photographische Sammlung / SK Stiftung Kultur, Köln, exhibits: Charles Fréger, Pepa Hristova, Pieter Hugo, Hiroh Kikai, Joerg Lipskoch, Francesco Neri, Mark Neville, Jerry L. Thompson, Mette Tronvoll, Albrecht TübkeThe Kunstmuseum Bonn exhibits: Ute Behrend, Katharina Bosse, Clegg & Guttmann, Dunja Evers, Jan Paul Evers, Albrecht Fuchs, Bernhard Fuchs, Jitka Hanzlovà, Uschi Huber, Jörg Paul Janka, Sabrina Jung, Dagmar Keller/Martin Wittwer, Annette Kelm, Erik Kessels, Dieter Kiessling, Jana Kölmel, Eckhard Korn, Christian Mayer, Katharina Mayer, Christopher Muller, Peter Piller, Barbara Probst, Tim Rautert, Daniela Risch, Thomas Ruff, Michael Schmidt, Daniel Schumann, Oliver Sieber, Beat Streuli, Thomas Struth, Katja Stuke, Wolfgang Tillmans, Christopher Williams, Tobias ZielonyExhibition:The Photographische Sammlung/SK Stiftung Kultur, Köln, 26/2– 29/5/2016Kunstmuseum Bonn, 25/2– 8/5/2016Kunsthalle Nürnberg and Kunsthaus im KustKulturQuartier,13/10/16–15/1/2017
