Die Bibliothek des Frankfurter Stadtadvokaten Heinrich Kellner (1536-1589)

Der Frankfurter Stadtsyndikus und Advokat Heinrich Kellner (1536–1589) entstammte einer Frankfurter Patrizierfamilie und wurde 1563 in Ferrara zum Doktor beider Rechte promoviert. Wie andere wohlhabende Bürger seiner Heimatstadt besaß er eine umfangreiche Bibliothek, über die bisher nur wenig bekannt war. Das Ziel dieser Schrift ist es, die ehemals bedeutende Bibliothek des in Deutschland, den Niederlanden, Frankreich und Italien ausgebildeten Juristen Heinrich Kellner mit ihren gedruckten Büchern, Kunstbüchern, Handschriften und Manuskripten zu rekonstruieren und zu ordnen. Die Studien dieses Bandes leisten zudem einen Beitrag zur Rekonstruktion der "Bibliotheca Jungiana" von Heinrich Kellners Enkel Johann Maximilian Zum Jungen (1596–1649), die zu den wertvollsten Privatsammlungen des 17. Jahrhunderts zählt.

The Frankfurt town syndic and advocate Heinrich Kellner (1536–1589) came from a Frankfurt patrician family and was awarded a doctorate of both laws in Ferrara in 1563. Like other wealthy citizens of his hometown, he owned an extensive library about which little was known until now. The aim of this study is to reconstruct and arrange the formerly important library of Heinrich Kellner, a lawyer educated in Germany, the Netherlands, France and Italy, with its printed books, art books, manuscripts and manuscripts. It also contributes to the reconstruction of the "Bibliotheca Jungiana", one of the most important private collections of the 17th century, property of Kellner's grandson Johann Maximilian Zum Jungen (1596–1649).
