Silvia Bächli & Eric Hattan – Schnee bis im Mai

Das Konzept

Vier Monate verbrachten Silvia Bächli und Eric Hattan im Frühjahr 2008 in der Hafenstadt Seyðisfjörður im Osten Islands. Dort arbeitete Silvia Bächli an den ersten Blättern für ihre Solo-Präsentation 2009 im Schweizer Pavillon der 53. Biennale von Venedig. Eric Hattan sammelte in diesen Monaten Aufnahmen für seine Videoinstallation 'All the While'. Auch entstanden gemeinsame Fotografien in einem Panoramaformat: Landschaftsdestillate aus Schnee und Eis. Davon gab es auf Island in diesen Monaten sehr viel. Die Isländer bezeichneten diesen Winter als den härtesten seit den 1960er Jahren: 'Schnee bis im Mai'.

Da ist keine Hektik, kein Chaos zu spüren, alles fließt …

The Concept

Silvia Bächli and Eric Hattan spent four months in Spring 2008 in the port Seyðisfjörður on the east coast of Iceland. Silvia Bächli worked on the first pages of her 2009 solo presentation for the Swiss Pavilion of the 53rd Venice Biennale. During this period, Eric Hattan collected footage for his video installation All the While. The artists also took joint photographs in panorama format: distillates of landscapes made of snow and ice. There was plenty of this in Iceland during these months. The Icelanders have called it the most severe Winter since the 1960s: 'Snow until May.'

There is no hecticness, no disorder to see, everything is floating …
