‘no one is talking about this’ is a about a woman whose life is dominated by the internet. In Part One of the book, the reader faces multiple ideas and posts. In the middle of the book, this life is turned upside down and the woman finds herself back in the real life. This duality can be seen in the beautiful cover as well. Lockwood’s language is very unique. It feels like you are reading an endless stream of consciousness, jumping from one idea to another, metaphors over metaphors. You will either love or hate it. There are so many messages hidden behind her words. The story itself has fun moments, but made me cry in the end as well. This is a very unique novel and a piece of art.

In ‘The Switch’ Leena and Eileen, granddaughter and grandmother, swap their lives. While Leena moves to the countryside to escape from work, Eileen discovers the life as a single in London. This book is a fun, comfy and entertaining read. Nevertheless, it deals with overcoming insecurities, developing and finding oneself, too. Most of the time, I laughed while reading though some tears rolled in the end as well. I absolutely enjoyed this book.

‘Reasons to Stay Alive’ is Haig’s memoir about his experience with his mental illness. In the book, the reader follows Haig’s journey to recover or rather finding a way to deal with it. The short and diversified chapters make it easy to read. The book provides hope without leaving out the reality of the illness. If you suffer from mental illness, you may find comfort in reading the book. If you are indirectly affected and support a beloved one, you will gain insight about what it feels like the live with mental illness and develop your understanding. Haig opens up and gives private details away. Nevertheless, he mentions a lot of facts too which raises awareness of the relevant topic. I can only recommend reading this book.

“A Boy Called Christmas” retells how Father Christmas grew up and ended up with the elves. The illustrations in the book are adorable. It is fun to read, but partly sad, too. The plot is very thought through, even all the little Christmas details. It is such a fun to read, and I want to read the other books of the series as soon as possible. It’s a great gift for Christmas, too. I can only recommend it!

„Schwarz auf weiß: Trau dich zu träumen und schaff das Unmögliche“ ist die Biografie von Nikeata Thompsen. In ihrer Kindheit beginnend, zeigt sie die Hürden und Erfahrungen, die sie meistern musste, um an ihrem heutigen Punkt anzukommen. Anbei verpackt sie ihr gewonnenes Wissen in an den Leser gerichtete Aufforderungen.
Das Cover zeigt die Autorin und unterstreicht deren Stärke und Positivität zum Leben. Bereits die ersten Seiten fesselten mich als Leserin. Thompsen gibt private Einblicke in ihr Leben, die mir vorher nicht bekannt waren. Dabei wechseln sich positives wie negatives ab. Strukturiert ist das ganze nach Regeln, die sie dem Leser als Hilfe auf den Weg gibt. Jedes Kapitel endet mit einer kurzen, direkten Anweisung, wie man sein Leben leben kann. Als Leserin wurde ich überrascht, wie aufgeklärt und reflektierend Thompsen über ihr erlebtes berichtet. Besonders beeindruckt hat mich, wie lebensbejahend und mutig trotz einschneidender Erlebnisse sie ihren Weg beschreitet. Auch gefiel mir, dass Trigger Warnungen angegeben werden und sie damit auch sensibel mit dem Leser umgeht. Durch dieses Buch konnte ich Thompsen von einer anderen Seite kennenlernen, die allerdings ihren Vorbildcharakter nur verstärkt hat.
Abschließend kann ich das Buch nur empfehlen, weil es die Geschichte einer beeindruckenden Frau erzählt und gute Werte vertritt.
