It is not really known around here, that Alvirah and Willy have their own series, written by the author. At least those books are not specific called by their names.

Mary Higgins Clark wrote this novel in a nice, soft tone and used her style she became famous for. Decent, with some little action but no blood or other things like that.

No doubt, a wonderful written book about Christmas time without being too kitschy or with all the usual decorating this time of year has.

The tone and style is a bit different from the other books of this trilogy. But still written in a wonderful language and with the typical style the author has.

It was wonderful to read and with some very beautiful moments. The end was, for my taste, a bit too kitschy, but I enjoyed most of this last book of the Guardians trilogy. So, if you´re a Nora Roberts fan like me, this is your book. I can really recommend it for a relaxed afternoon read.

I love the writing style the author has. At least in most of her books. The soft, but psychological finesse, the way how she describes her figures, the scenes and how the details come to light bit by bit, that the reader sometimes knows more than the investigating figure itself – all that is brought to paper in a great way.

Sure, I had a good time reading it, since the tone and style were what I´ve expected from Mary Higgins Clark.

No doubt, a nice to read and solid written crime novel. But in the end I was a bit disappointed. The key scene was a bit too much of everything and I missed the psychological finesse the author usually has in her books.

One of the first things I noticed about this book was its cover. The soft colors, the dark clouds and the summary caught my attention. Sooo promising ….

Mary E. Pearson´s writing-style is soft, thoughtful and she uses every word as kind of a weapon – in a good way. Even during the bloodiest and cruelest scenes her style is great. And the atmosphere very captivating.

Don´t expect with Lia a beautiful princess which has no brain and does everything her family and the country expects from her. Oh no! Lia is a strong-willed and very self-confident young woman who knows exactly that within the palace live people who hate her.

That end! How in the world can an author do that?

Der Roman birgt eine äußerst kraftvolle Geschichte, die von Macht, Willen und Liebe erzählt. Und einer Sehnsucht, die alles überstrahlt.

Raisa begreift während der Handlung, das Worte Wissen und das Wissen Macht bedeuten. Und wer Lesen und Schreiben kann, der kann dieses Wissen und seine Macht nutzen. Zum Guten wie Bösen.
Kathy MacMillans Schreibstil ist einfach, wenngleich ein wenig monoton.
Erst im letzten Drittel bricht diese Monotonie durch viel Action und eine Protagonistin auf, die nicht länger passiv handelt, sondern voller Entschlossenheit und Elan. Ihre Intelligenz, ihr Scharfsinn und ihre Logik werden plötzlich als Waffe gegen etablierte Regeln, Traditionen und die Gier des Hofes eingesetzt und es kommt Zug in die Geschichte.
Und genau das hat mich am Schluss vier Sterne geben lassen, da sich die Dinge gedreht haben. Hoffnung mit Verzweiflung ringt und es deutlich wird: Es lohnt sich für seine Überzeugung zu kämpfen und einzustehen. Selbst wenn der Rest diese nicht teilt. Alles hat zwei Seiten. Auch dieser Roman.

Ein wundervoller Roman, der herrliche Lesestunden bringt und den ich nur empfehlen kann.
